Some New Yorkers
Now that I spend all day, 5 days a week at a computer drawing, I find that more and more of my personal drawing happens away from a screen. This equals more enjoyment for me but more obstacles to placing work online. This morning I discovered that I could scan files at work into the computer to post so hopefully we'll get more regular posts!
I've always been frustrated to improve my gesture/ observational drawings but lately found the work of Matt Jones, who showed me how much fun it is to use your imagination when sketching! The following are attempts at infusing real people with my own brain juices. It's a lot of fun and a great way to refresh creatively! Try it!
Thanks for dropping by again! Let me know if you give this a try and come up with fun results!

NOTE: Sometimes people are doing such interesting things that you don't actually have to use your imagination. Case in point? Top right guy holding a coffee between his teeth while he texted. New Yorkers sure LOVE their mobiles (remember when we called them mobiles?)
Also, Matt Jones does a great job of pushing his gestures and storytelling!

Shark Week is Over...
But the danger remains! The BEAR SHARK!
(This is why you don't have conversations with coworkers.)
You have been doubly warned.

Update.
Things are good. My wife and I are having a baby boy in December! Working at Blue Sky is fun!
Our student film, Estefan, won an award at SIGGRAPH?
Bad news? There are an unhealthy amount of Scorpodiles in my sketchbook lately. Careful! They're poisonous.

On the Subject of Pigeons...
Every morning I walk to Grand Central Station to catch a train to work. It's really cool. And educational.
For example:
This morning I saw one enterprising pigeon picking chicken chunks out of someone's vomit on the sidewalk (I can think of 3 reasons why this is wrong).
But then I saw this:
Everything became clear.
I tell ya, pigeons got it tuff.
Spare a dime?
BONUS PROBLEM:
Can you say "enterprising pigeon picking chicken chunks" 5 times fast?

SMASH! SMASH! SMASH!
Imagine you the HULK is grabbing your arms and spinning you around while saying, "SMASH! SMASH! SMASH!"
Here's an image you can open in another tab so it doesn't have the distracting sidebar ephemera.
Still running on Avengers steam. Inspired to keep dabbling in GIFs by the all-powerful Anthony Holden.
In 6th grade, my best friend, Zach Seeley and I would draw the cockpits of X-wings and AT-STs and pretend we were piloting them, drawing the things we would see through the windows. I like the idea of interacting with these characters like this. Pretend those are your arms.

The Avengers!
The Avengers was such a fantastic movie! I really am in awe that they reeled in so many characters to make a compelling movie that didn't feel too long.

Not Dead Yet!
Phew! Haven't posted since January! Busy time. Interviews with studios, work, and finishing Estefan. The brunt of Estefan is done, so now I can get some balance back in life. Lots of hard-working people on that project.
Also, all my drawings of women just kind of resembling my wife, Shannon. I suppose there are worse things...

Waiting at the Bus Station
Wanted to play with composition ideas, and I've totally been crushing on this short lately. Anyway... back to work.
